Seeing is Believing. (All life's riddles are answered in the movies") None so much draw and reach a mutual understanding of and from English language use as does the modern film or movie. Concomitant with image and sound as in often overstated mood music and spoken English words, the modern block buster, family film or television programme offers it's viewer and almost complete, albeit imagined observation of English language use in real life situations. A real English speaking life. from it's onset, film with use of image had and has long become for the many, the main arbiter of the public voice (Vox populai) so much so as in these movies even to creating these ways of English language development and it's understanding. Most surprisingly, one of the first cases of moving pictures ala film being used to shape a viewer's reasonings was sans English words and sound. THAT'S NOT FUNNY or I DON'T GET IT. Determined at once by what is and has been said. what is and had been heard, what is and has been understood as well as the general levels of inebriation as experienced, drunk or quaffed by the listening audience, the joke or jest if you like, presented orally in comedy clubs with the usually overdone physicalisations of the comedienne, more than usually receives laughter of the audience in response. People as in audiences, captive or otherwise, most often get the laugh, the humour, the point of the joke as they, the many of the audience are also aware of the understandings and situations that led to the initial creation of the jest itself.
